HH Shri Mahaswami Museum

Spirituality and Indian Culture have an important role in making our younger generation have noble thoughts and good ideals. Their Holiness Shri Jayendra Saraswathi Swamigal and Shri Sankara Vijayendra Saraswathi Swamigal have guided and initiated a number of educational institutions in various parts of the country which offer modern education along with spiritual and Cultural education. There has been overwhelming support and demand for such schools.

Mahaswamigal Museum has hundreds of rarest of the rare pictures, which have captured, albeit briefly, of his times, his life, his devotion, his selfless service to the humanity, his simplicity, his rare vision and his teachings. He was an inspiration, an epitome of learning and wisdom with which he captured every heart – from the mightiest to the weakest.

Inside the campus, there is a beautiful temple for Sri Ganapathy, Sri Kamakshi ambal (designed as a replica of Kanchi Sri Kamakshi ambal's sanctum sanctorum), Sri Mahadeva with shrines for Sri Dakshinamoorthy to his left, Sri Adi Shankara to his right, facing each other and Sri Mahaswamigal behind Sri Nandi facing the Lord. Sri Mahadeva's shrine has Veda Patashalas on three sides. It is divine to see the very young Vidhyarthis doing abhyasa here (close to 300 Vidhyartis study here).

Mahaswamigal’s missions on the values of life and vedic education have inspired us to create this museum. This is a temple of learning, which would inspire the young and old alike. Articles, books, Maena, Cycle Rickshaw used by Mahaswamigal are on display.

M.S.Subbulakshmi Museum is in the first hall displaying rare pictures and artifacts and her songs/concerts played in the background. A beautiful larger than life idol of the legend decorates the hall with accolades from who's who of her period and quotes from HH Shri Mahaswamigal.

Approx 5 km from Tambaram Railway Station/Bus Terminus on Tambaram-Velachery Road. Bus Stop - Rajakilpakkam (next to Mahalakshmi Nagar/Skandasramam bus stop). Take right at signal towards Kendriya Vidyalaya (Road to Madambakkam Sri Dhenupureeswarar Sivan Temple), take the first left at Ponniammam Koil Street and go to the end of the road (2 mins drive). You will find directions. Also accessible from the next two bus stops - Kamarajapuram and Sembakkam on Tambaram-Velachery road.

7. மலையென வரும் துன்பம் பனியென நீங்க

ததியுறு மத்தின் சுழலும் என் ஆவி, தளர்வு இலது ஓர்
கதியுறுவண்ணம் கருது கண்டாய்-கமலாலயனும்,
மதியுறுவேணி மகிழ்நனும், மாலும், வணங்கி, என்றும்
துதியுறு சேவடியாய். சிந்துரானன சுந்தரியே.

தாமரை மலரில் உதித்தவனும், கலைமகளின் கொழுநனும் ஆகிய பிரம்மனும், திருமாலும் வணங்கிப் போற்றுகின்ற சிவந்த பாதங்களையுடைய செந்தூரத் திலகம் கொண்டு விளங்கும் பேரழகானவளே! தயிரைக் கடையும் மத்துப் போன்று உலகில் பிறப்பு இறப்பு என்று சுழன்று வருந்தாமல் என் உயிர் நல்லதொரு மோட்ச கதியையடைய அருள் புரிவாயாக!

TO HANDLE DISTRESS WITH EASE

Thadhiyuru maththin suzhalum en aavi, thalarvu iladhu or

kadhiyuruvannam karudhu kandaay-kamalaalayanum,

Like a churning -rod (used to separate butter from curd, spatula)in the middle of the curd, kindly bless me with salvation as I suffer so much from birth, death and life cycles. Abhirami! You are the grand beauty with sacred face and bright -red -vermillion Thilaga (decorative mark on the fore head as worn by Hindu woman). Your Lotus-feet have already become red as Lotus-seated Brahma, your better-half Shiva and Vishnu all adore you!.

Narayaneeyam has its own efficacies like relief from illness, happy family life, good progeny and the good fortune to be wealthy. One will attain good health, long life and realize one’s dreams if one chants these slokas with full awareness of their meaning.

सान्द्रानन्दावबोधात्मकमनुपमितं कालदेशावधिभ्यां
निर्मुक्तं नित्यमुक्तं निगमशतसहस्रेण निर्भास्यमानम् ।
अस्पष्टं दृष्टमात्रे पुनरुरुपुरुषार्थात्मकं ब्रह्म तत्वं
तत्तावद्भाति साक्षाद् गुरुपवनपुरे हन्त भाग्यं जनानाम् ॥ १ ॥

SaandraanandaavabOdhaatmakamanupamitaM kaaladeshaavadhibhyaaM

nirmuktaM nityamuktaM nigamashatasahasreNa nirbhaasyamaanam  |

The Brahma Tatwa ,which is dense concentrated Bliss, which is of the nature of the Pure Consciousness, This Brahma Tatwa which is not easy to grasp. Even the Vedas cannot fully comprehend or describe it but it can be attained through single minded devotion by the true Bhakthas of Lord Krishna in the Guruvaayur temple. Oh! What good fortune for the people who seek thy Grace.

Mahamantra joi japata maheshu, kasi mukuti hetu updesu

“The great Spell muttered by Shiva and which, when imparted by Him at Kasi (City of Varanasi) leads to emancipation. 

The scriptures maintain that Lord Siva, the deity presiding over the holy city of Kasi, whispers into the right ear of every creature, dying within its boundaries, the name ‘Rama’ and thereby brings emancipation to the soul of the dying person. By combining the three letters ‘Ra’, ‘Aa’ and ’Ma’, it became a great mantra as compared to other mantras that are ordinary mantras.

6. மந்திர சித்தி பெற

சென்னியது, உன் பொன் திருவடித் தாமரை. சிந்தையுள்ளே 

மன்னியது, உன் திரு மந்திரம்,- சிந்துர வண்ணப் பெண்ணே.- 

முன்னியநின் அடியாருடன் கூடி, முறை முறையே 

பன்னியது, என்றும் உந்தன் பரமாகம பத்ததியே.

செம்மையான திருமேனியுடைய அபிராமித் தாயே! என்றும் என் தலைமேல் இருக்கக்கூடியது, நின் அழகிய திருவடியே! என்றும் என் சிந்தையுள்ளே நிலை பெற்று இருக்கக் கூடியது, நின் திருமந்திரமே! செந்தூர நிறமுடைய அழகிய தேவி, நான் இனி என்றும் கலந்திருப்பது நின்னையே மறவாது தொழும் அடியார்களையே! நான் தினந்தோறும் பாராயணம் செய்வது, உன்னுடைய மேலான ஆகம நெறியையே!

TO ACQUIRE MANTRA SIDDHI

Senniyadhu, un pon thiruvadith thaamarai! sindhaiyulle

munniyannin adiyaarudan koodi, murai muraiye

Abhirami! Your complexion is like bright red Chindura. Fixed are your Golden-Lotus feet on my head . Also I have fixed in my mind your divine-name and mantra! I mingle myself with your devotees, who always meditate on you. I observe everyday the rituals and austerities ordained by you.

முள் படுக்கை

தேனம்பாக்கம் சிவஸ்தானத்தில் ஒருநாள் காலை ஒரே பதைபதைப்பு, பரபரப்பு! பெரியவா படுத்துக் கொள்ளும் இடத்துக்கு அருகில் உறங்கிக் கொண்டிருந்த பாரிஷதர்கள், உறக்கம் கலைந்து பார்க்கும்போது பெரியவாளை காணோம்! சுற்றுப்புறம் எல்லாம் சல்லடை போட்டும் பெரியவாளை கண்டுபிடிக்க முடியவில்லை. முடிவாக, அங்கு ஓடிய சிற்றாரின் கரையில், சற்று தள்ளி, ஏதோ காவி வஸ்த்ரம் தரையில் கிடந்த மாதிரி இருக்கவே, அருகே சென்று பார்க்கலாம் என்றால், காலை வைக்கவே முடியாத அளவு எக்கச்சக்க முட்கள்! என்ன கொடூரம்!.........

முட்புதர்கள் மண்டி கிடக்கும் ஓரிடத்தில் பெரியவா சுருண்டு கிடக்கிறார்!  "அவராக இந்த முள்ளுப்படுக்கையை உவந்தாரா....அல்லது.....?" எண்ணாததெல்லாம் எண்ணியது அடியார் குழாம்.  அவர்கள் அருகே நெருங்க, பளிச்சென எழுந்து உட்கார்ந்தார். திருமேனியில் அப்பினார்ப்போல் முள் அங்கி பூண்டிருந்த கோலம், அனைவர் மனதிலும் தைத்தது.

வயது முதிர்ந்த பக்தரொருவர், "ஐயோ, பெரியவா! இதென்ன ஸோதனை?" என்று அலறுகிறார்.

5. மனக்கவலை தீர

பொருந்திய முப்புரை, செப்பு உரைசெய்யும் புணர் முலையாள், 

வருந்திய வஞ்சி மருங்குல் மனோன்மணி, வார் சடையோன் 

அருந்திய நஞ்சு அமுது ஆக்கிய அம்பிகை, அம்புயமேல் 

திருந்திய சுந்தரி, அந்தரி-பாதம் என் சென்னியதே.

அபிராமி அன்னையே! உயிர்களிடத்திலே படைத்தல், காத்தல், அழித்தல் ஆகிய மூவகை நிலைகளிலும், நிறைந்து இருப்பவளே! மாணிக்க பூண் அணிந்த நெருக்கமான, அடர்ந்த தனங்களின் சுமையால் வருந்துகின்ற வஞ்சிக் கொடி போன்ற இடையை உடையவளே! மனோன்மணியானவளே! (அன்பர்களை ஞான நிலைக்கு கொண்டு செல்கின்றவள்) நீண்ட சடையை உடைய சிவபெருமான் அன்றொரு நாள் அருந்திய விஷத்தை அமுதமாக்கிய அழகிய தேவி! நீ வீற்றிருக்கும் தாமரையைக் காட்டிலும் மென்மையான நின் திருவடிகளையே, என் தலைமேல் கொண்டேன்.

Mother Abhirami! You pervade into all the creature as you are their creation, protection and destruction. You are Manonmani (precious gem) and your divine bosoms are weighty, and they are like copper-cone shaped vessels and they strain your tender creeper-like hip. You are Ambhiga (mother) who has changed the poison consumed by the tassel-haired Shiva into Ambrosia. You are the beauty present in the Lotus flower .Ubiquitous Abhirami! I place your Lotus feet on my head.

The World Keeps Vedic Time

The uniform worldwide tradition of time-management and the Sanskrit terminology associated with it, is yet another emphatic proof of the prevalence of a uniform , unitary Vedic culture throughout the world from time immemorial. The Hindu alias Vedic almanac is the ancient most because it adheres to the Srushti-Samvat i.e, the time -computation from the creation of the cosmos. Nothing can be more ancient.

What is more, anybody undertaking any Vedic ritual at any time in any part of the world has to recall and repeat the entire computation of the aeons, eras, years and days that have passed from the moment of the creation to the day of the ritual. Thus a continual, up-to-date, day -to -day computation uttered through billions of months down the ages, day -in and day –out, all over the world has ensured an unerring tally of eternal time, A quick review of the cosmic time tally is part of the Sankalpa uttered at Vedic rituals.

It is that Vedic tradition which has been keeping a continuous tally or the time-dimension of' the cosmos namely of the time that has elapsed and the period that lies ahead before the next cataclysmic end or worldly life. Of the current Kali era 5097 years have elapsed . Even or that stretch of time present-day scholars know a bare, dented outline of history only or the last about 2000 years. Of the balance 3097 anterior years they know next to nothing.

Mathematics in Chamakam

Mathematics is a part of our daily life in several ways. Hence, it is no wonder that it has come to occupy an important place in religious rituals also. This is what we find particularly in the Hindu way of life or the Hindu religion.

Worshippers of Lord Siva recite Rudram with 11 sections followed by Chamakam with 11 sections as a routine prayer every day. This is called the daily nyasam or mode of worship. In the Rudram part, the devotee pays repeated obeisance to Lord Siva and prays for his blessings for human well being. But on special occasions, the number of times the recitation is done is increased.

மனிதரும், தேவரும், மாயா முனிவரும், வந்து, சென்னி

பனிதரும் திங்களும், பாம்பும்,பகீரதியும் படைத்த
புனிதரும் நீயும் என் புந்தி எந்நாளும் பொருந்துகவே.

மனிதர், தேவர், பெரும் தவமுனிவர் முதலியோர் தலை வைத்து வணங்கும் அழகிய சிவந்த பாதங்களுடைய கோமளவல்லியே! தன்னுடைய நீண்ட சடாமுடியில் கொன்றையும், குளிர்ச்சி தரும் இளம் சந்திரனையும், அரவையும், கங்கையையும் கொண்டு விளங்குகின்ற புனிதரான சிவபெருமானும் நீயும் இடையறாது என் மனத்திலே ஆட்சியருள வேண்டும்.

TO ATTAIN HIGHER POSITIONS

Manidharum, thevarum, maayaa munivarum, vandhu, senni

kunidharum sevadik komalame! konrai vaarsadaimel
panidharum thingalum, paambum, pageeradhiyum padaiththa
punidharum neeyum en pundhi ennnnaalum porundhugave.

Oh! Goddess Komala Valli!(Abhirami) your Lotus feet has become red as they have been pressed by the heads of men, gods (angels, celestial beings) and immortal saints in obeisance. The Shiva who has both Konrai flower garland and and Pleasantly cool-moon on his matted-hair and Lord Shiva also wears the serpent on his tufted hair . River Bhagirathi (Ganges) also originates from his tasseled hair. Abhirami! You along with the above described Shiva! Please come and ever be present in my mind.
